Both the Math and the Mission centres were founded in 1947.
The Math centre preserves the sacred place where Sri Ramakrishna was born, as also his ancestral home. It conducted daily worship and religious classes, and observed certain festivals and birthdays of religious personages.
The Math and Mission centres together conduct the following rural development works under Pallimangal project: (a) mobile medical unit (13,402 patients treated), leprosy and TB eradication programmes : 36 leprosy patients and 74 TB patients treated, (b) 26 non-formal education centres with 663 students and study circles for rural youths, (c) child nutrition programme by providing milk and nutritious diet to 150 poor children daily through Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa, (d) self-reliance programmes by training rural youths and destitute women (111 trainees) in apiculture, jute handicrafts, weaving, making incense sticks, basic computer hardware, food processing, etc.
